Ida Ivanka Kubler
'The birth of an idea'

7th November to 11th December

The main material in the "The birth of an idea" series are painted sculptured silk worm cocoons. The artist waits until the silk moths leave their cocoons in order to lay their eggs,. The cocoons are then painted, manipulated and positioned. And in doing the artist changes their initial image of silk cocoons and allowing their "passing" to another identity. The bright paint color defines a strong presence and the shape of the immense number of elements appeal to the imaginary touch. The resulting "Birth of an idea" pictures are at once nurturing, transcending and moving.

Ida's artwork 'The birth of an idea' was included in 'Placebos for Art' a project undertaken by the Behring Institute for Medical Research and was judged to have positive influence on public health.
